You have probably heard about dogs that act as companions for those in nursing homes and hospitals. I even recently heard dogs are being taken into university dorms to help de-stress university students studying for exams. Their presence helps to calm and soothe people. People love petting dogs and receiving the unconditional love dogs are known for.
Our Unity bookkeeper brings her dog Jakie with her when she comes in for a couple of hours on Thursdays. He runs around and greets us all and then settles down.....sometimes on a lap.. my lap. There is something wonderfully comforting about petting a dog while working. I fully understand how they are so therapeutic.
