I am so grateful for our health care system. My mom has just been treated for six weeks in hospital where she has been receiving rehabilitation therapy for Parkinson's Disease. The therapists have been excellent. They are skilled, caring and professional. The Personal Support Workers and nurses work very hard meeting the needs of many patients. And mom wasn't stressed about how to pay for the care.We Canadians are so very fortunate! Yes, there is some waiting for certain procedures at times but the average Canadian should feel absolutely blessed for our health care system. So many Americans lose their homes to pay for care when a family member becomes very ill. Hospitals there are for profit and privately owned; commercials show health care centres competing for patients. Why? Because it is about the money.
Today I am counting my blessings that I live in a country that has such good, not perfect, but good health care.
