Back on the Grid... so to speak

I've gone apart for awhile and now am home. Bob and I ventured to Canada's southern most tip, Pelee Island. It was a grand time. The island is quite large and very beautiful. We stayed in the oldest stone cottage on the island built by Mr. McCormick, a large mover and shaker who had the general store. It was built in the mid 1800's and I was in awe thinking of all the people and activities that had taken place in the cottage over the years.

This morning I learned of the passing of a man in his early or mid fifties. I'm feeling sad about that and the loss his family are feeling consumed by. It is reminding me of the preciousness of life if we could only see it right here and now.

We can actually find happiness right now, this moment. Our thoughts are in our head and if they are unhappy thoughts, we can change them! We can think of a good memory. We can bring to mind what is working in our life and what and whom we can be grateful for. The pioneers who came before us had so much less stuff and conveniences. No washing machines or dryers; no televisions or internet; no cars or winter boots. But even then, it was about happiness being found within.

Just for today don't look for your happiness... be it.
